Summary:

This course equips directors and staff of children's homes with practical strategies to prevent sexual abuse in alternative care settings. Through three fundamental principles—rigorous staff screening, institutional policies and procedures, and child empowerment—participants will learn to identify red flags, implement safety protocols, and create an environment of intentional protection.

The course provides concrete tools to assess risks, establish clear boundaries, and develop an organizational culture where children and adolescents are safe and empowered to report any situation of abuse.

Topics Included:

• How to assess child risk from each volunteer position

• Develop institutional policies establishing prevention rules and protocols for reporting sexual abuse.

• Empower children through age-appropriate education, clear reporting processes, and trusting environments.
